"So when you see the abomination that causes desolation..spoken of through the prophet Daniel.."

The Abomination of Desolation is the image of the Antichrist which will be placed inside the rebuilt Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. The people of the earth will be tricked into believing that it is alive and will worship it.

Biblical historyEdit

According to the book of Revelations, the False Prophet will help set up an image of the Antichrist in the rebuilt Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. He will then force the people of the world to worship it.

"He will set up his image in God's Temple...proclaiming himself to be God" - second thessalonians

Those who will not worship the image of the beast will be put to death but eventually their sould will be saved by God, however those who worship the image will lose salvation.

The old and new testaments speak of the coming abomination of Desolation, in the book of Daniel and Mark they say that the image will stand where it should not be, in the Holy of Holies in the Temple. “But when you shall see the abomination of desolation …standing where it ought not (Temple)" - Mark 13 verse 14

In the book of Matthew, Jesus says when the image is set up, those in Jerusalem and Israel must flee, for then shall be a great tribulation. The image of the Antichrist will not be a plain statue or picture representing the Antichrist, but instead, many believe it will be a modern interactive image which people will be amazed at and will worship it. However the Jewish people will not be able to worship it, as the true Israelite cannot worship an image.

The ultimate fulfillment of the abomination of desolation is not only the statue, it is the final leader of the religious system—the human personification of the Babylonish whore of Babylon herself—who enters into Jerusalem and says, “I am God.”
