The Owlman also known as the Cornish Owlman is a owl like creature reported to Haunt a church yard in Cornwall. The creature is described as having red eyes and human like features. The creature is often compared to America's Mothman. Sightings started in April 17, 1976 where two young girls saw a large winged creature hovering above a church tower. Two months later, on July 3, 14-year-old Sally Chapman was camping with a friend, Barbara Perry, in woods near the church. According to her sighting, as she stood outside her tent, she heard a hissing sound and turned to see a figure that looked like an owl as big as a man, with pointed ears and red eyes. The girls reported that the creature flew up into the air, revealing black pincer-like claws. Sightings of this figure continued to be reported on the next day and on two occasions two years later, in June and August 1978, all within the church area.
Sightings of Owlman continued through the 1980's and 1990's and even a sighting was reported in 2009. Whatever this creature's purpose is we may never know.
