Spring-heeled Jack

Spring-heeled Jack is a strange humanoid creature that has haunted Britain since 1836. The creature has been said to be able to jump over walls and make extraordinary leaps. Some sightings describe Spring-heeled Jack as devil like while some say he dresses like a gentleman. Several reports mention that he could breathe out blue and white flames and that he wore sharp metallic claws at his fingertips. At least two people claimed that he was able to speak comprehensible English.

Spring-heeled Jack was reported to attack coahces and stages and was responsible for the Devil's Footprints found in 1855.

In October 1837 one young woman was attacked by Spring-heeled Jack who ripped her clothes and touched her flesh before leaping away. A number of sightings were reported from all over the UK. In 1986 in Wales a salesman reported seeing a humanoid creature jumping and leaping high buildings which is thought to be Spring-heeled Jack. The latest sighting was reported in 2012 a family saw a "dark figure with no features" run across the road in front of them, before climbing over a 15ft roadside bank in "seconds", near Nescot College on the Ewell bypass. The family later likened the figure to be the legendary Spring Heeled Jack.

Whatever its purpose is, Spring-heeled Jack is a danger.

  • The Spring-heeled Jack was the inspiration for the hideous man-eating demon simply known as "The Creeper" from the Jeepers Creepers franchise.
